Previously on BTS: SOOP & Jungkook August 28-September 3

Summer ends, fall approaches, Beyoncé features Jungkook in her Virgo Season Yearbook, and indeed September has begun! The birth week of our Golden Maknae was as multifaceted as Jungkook himself. When it comes to BTS content, we were granted with a new batch of announcements and previews.

Thee Remix to Stream... and TikTok?

With the release of the remix of Butter (feat. Megan Thee Stallion) last Thursday, ARMY entered the week ready to continue supporting BTS by enthusiastically engaging with the new hit. Both BTS and “Hot Girl Meg” took part in the fun as well. BTS posted a YouTube short featuring all seven members posing to the remix, and Megan joined them a few hours later with a complimentary video of her own as she “wanted to make a TikTok like the boys.” ARMY became more excited when Jimin retweeted Megan’s video and thanked her for giving them “a good voice.” Many hope to see more interactions in the future!

Never has IKEA Furniture Been so Compelling

This week’s Run BTS! (Episode 149) featured the conclusion to the boys’ interior design challenge, where SUGA, Jimin, and Jungkook faced off against Jin, RM, j-hope, and V to build a studio-sized room complete with tiling, furniture, and paint. Team SUGA completed a reserved and aesthetic beige-toned room. Meanwhile Team Jin opted for a more vibrant, dark blue room with black and primary-colored furniture. This episode’s highlights included V’s abstract paint splattering which unintentionally formed the word “DNA,” SUGA’s adorable attempt to hang ceiling lighting, and endless compliments from RM and j-hope to encourage each other’s work.

A Jungkook Day Concert to Remember

With Jungkook birthday hashtags trending as early as Sunday, ARMY waited with bated breath for a September 1 celebration. Jungkook's two hours and a half long birthday livestream, which featured a concert of both BTS and cover songs, along with a surprise visit (with cake!) from j-hope, was watched by over 20.4 million viewers by the end of the broadcast. ARMY all over the world celebrated his birthday through tweets, installations, billboards, and more! Stay tuned for a special ARMY Magazine Blog feature focused specifically on Jungkook’s birthday, which will include an in-depth recap of the concert and various projects around the world!

“In The SOOP” Season 2

One of the most exciting developments in the world of Bangtan this week was the announcement of “In The SOOP” Season 2. Season 1 experienced enormous success when it aired last year during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, as a reality show focused on the boys' interactions with nature and each other in a peaceful and beautiful environment. Designed and well-known for “calming” and “healing” vibes akin to “free therapy,” the beloved program will return this October. The initial Season 2 announcement was soon followed up with new preview photos of each member and a preview of limited edition merchandise.

YouTube Content

In case you have had trouble studying before, you can now follow along to the 20-minute “Study with BTS” YouTube video released earlier this week. You can also listen to the full version of SUGA’s Over the Horizon ringtone for Samsung. If you want to relive the SUGA snowman performance from last year’s SBS GAYO Daejeon, you can watch the newly released BTS Episode for some behind the scenes look. Or perhaps you’d like to be transported to HYBE INSIGHT, then you can check out the Bangtan Bomb of SUGA and Jimin’s visit.

Many other exciting events were also announced this week, including an exclusive conversation between BTS and Chris Martin to precede the release of the Permission to Dance Challenge Compilation video on September 10 at 12:45 PM KST. The video premiere link can be found here.

If this week is any indication of what’s to come, ARMY can look forward to more amazing content in the coming weeks and months! With RM and Jimin’s birthdays soon approaching as well, the celebrations are certainly only beginning.
