Previously on BTS : Records, Awards, Interviews and Hotteok December 12 - 18

It’s the middle of award season, and with new performances and content every day it's hard to keep up with everything BTS has been up to. Let's go back together and see what this past week has had in store for us!

December 12

BTS kicked off the week with a new set of wins. Starting with The Fact Music Awards, the boys took home four awards, including Year’s Artist (Male Group), World Wide Icon, Listener’s Choice and the Grand Prize (daesang), marking their 52nd daesang win. However, the record-breaking didn’t end there, as their latest title track, Life Goes On, earned its 5th win on Music Core, continuing the group’s 13 week-long winning streak. On top of that, BTS’s ''ON: Kinetic Manifesto Film'' reached 300 million views, their 14th music video to do so. As always, the members made sure to share their victories with ARMY, posting tweets of gratitude, releasing a Bangtan Bomb of the dance break for their hit, Dynamite, and teaming up with Bodyfriend to send out a fun end of the year message.

December 13

In true BTS fashion, they began the day with another win, as Life Goes On earned its first win on SBS Inkigayo. Life Goes On also reached 100 million streams on Spotify and, along with Dynamite, was played on Most Requested Live. The boys, excluding SUGA, appeared in two interviews. In their Consequence of Sound’s Band of the Year interview, the boys delved into various aspects of their career, from their incredible musical and lyrical diversity, to the creative process behind their latest album BE, to expressing their vulnerability through music. The six also appeared on AskAnything Chat, where they answered questions from fans and gave positive updates on SUGA’s recovery. They finished off the day with a ''BE-hind Story'', in which each member gave ARMY an inside look at their contribution to the production of BE.

December 14

Monday started off with the publication of a new edition of Weverse Magazine, which detailed fifteen new records BTS set with the release of their album BE. The third episode of ''BonBORAge'', an ongoing series of conversational Korean language lessons was also released. On Weverse Shop, Big Hit released the 2021 New Year’s Eve Live official merch. However, it wouldn’t be a day with BTS if they didn’t do something earth-shattering. The boys were announced as TIME’s Entertainer of the Year 2020. Along with a stunning cover photo, the magazine released a special interview in which the group discussed wanting to provide relief and comfort during the COVID-19 pandemic. It also included heartfelt comments from a South Korean philosopher and two longtime fans about the sociocultural significance of BTS’s art and activism, along with the personal impact the group has had on their own lives.

December 15

Big Hit released new merchandise for the ''Map of the Soul'' pop-up store in Seoul. Music and More (MNM), a Dutch pop-culture publication, released an interview with BTS about their favorite songs of the year and their plans for 2021. Most notably, the group took to social media, sharing their TIME Magazine cover photos and expressing their gratitude towards their company and each other, as they shared hotteok and a bunch of selfies.

December 16

Ever conscientious of the current global health crisis, Big Hit announced via Weverse that the group’s latest movie, ''Break The Silence'', would be made available exclusively online with a special commentary package, so that fans may enjoy the movie from the safety of their homes. They also released an update for the mobile game, ''BTS World'', with a new photo albums draw option available for players.

Media Base Charts tweeted their congratulations to the group, as BTS earned their first Top 5 on the Top 40 US Radio with Dynamite.

December 17

Naturally, BTS finished out the week strong. The Dynamite MV reached the 700 million view milestone, being their sixth video to do so. The group also released a Bangtan Bomb of the members preparing ON for the 2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards. In the meantime, promotions for a new mobile game, ''Rhythm Hive'', which features songs from both BTS and TXT have started. After a week of earning awards, breaking records, enjoying hotteok, and as we near the end of a fairly tumultuous year, BTS announced they will be holding a virtual New Year’s Eve ''Meet & Greet'' for their fans to share their stories.

That’s all for this time! True to themselves, BTS continues to emphasize the importance of sharing and offers comfort to their fans every step along the way. We'll look forward to seeing what surprises the next week brings. Stay tuned, ARMY!
