Previously on BTS: Post-FESTA Syndrome, Bangtan Bomb and Bigger Achievements June 19-25

Hey ARMY!

It’s already been a week since “SOWOOZOO,” and we are still not over it. Fortunately, we were able to relive the Muster by watching the delayed streaming. Then, the week only became better with tons of content and bigger achievements that came our way.

Pushing Boundaries and Reaching Greater Heights

It’s only fair that we start by looking back on the week with one of the biggest achievements to date: Butter topped the Hot 100 chart for a consecutive 4th week making it the group’s longest leading #1. It also achieved the feat of being one of the 54 songs in history that have debuted at #1 on the Hot 100, and the 13th to spend its first four weeks at #1.

Consecutively, BTS, THE BEST album topped the Oricon Weekly Chart with 782K copies sold. It became the highest weekly sales and best-selling album this year, and the highest weekly sales for a foreign act since Mariah Carey (1998). Agust D's Daechwita surpassed 11 million likes on YouTube, becoming the 2nd most liked MV by a Korean solo artist! He also has the highest monthly listeners on Spotify as a Korean male soloist with 3.18 million!

These accomplishments were followed by Euphoria exceeding 246 million streams on Spotify making it the 1st Korean male idol solo song to do so. In addition, Jungkook extended his record as the longest charting K-pop idol on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales with the #1 and #2 longest charting Korean solo songs, Euphoria and My Time holding on the list for 70 and 66 weeks respectively!

Our boys not only extended their achievements in terms of music but also with their collaborations. The HyundaiXBTS Earth Day campaign ranked #1 worldwide on the YouTube Global Top 10 Ads Leaderboard, with more than 105 million views. McDonald's BTS Meal was also a huge success as it sold over 1.2 million meals in Korea alone with a 250% increase in the sales of Chicken McNuggets!

A Rain of Content

On June 19, a Bangtan Bomb was posted from the roller skate rink used for the BTS week at “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” Both Jungkook and SUGA tried their hands with a guitar and SUGA ended up very adorably picking up some plectrums for himself. This was followed with a quirky, fun gift in the form of Butter Karaoke version, where the boys went all out crazy with their usual dorky selves. On the same day, they performed Butter on TBS's CDTV Live! Live!

On June 22, BTS held their online showcase for their Japanese album BTS, THE BEST. The boys did a fun talk show where they spoke about the album, ARMY, and more. They also performed Film Out and the Japanese version of Make It Right. The same day, we were gifted with episode 143 of Run BTS! where they had to come up with fairytales and write and illustrate books out of it. BTS appeared to have had genuine fun coming up with their stories, and it was interesting to note the distinct variation in each story they came up with. On June 23, 24 and 25, Big Hit Music released video snippets of the boys in a photo booth for the upcoming Butter CD single.

June 25 saw V hosting the Melon Station: Big Hit Music Record. He recommended songs for relaxation and healing. He also mentioned how he recently started listening to songs like A Whiter Shade of Pale by Procol Harum and No. 1 Party Anthem by Arctic Monkeys, and wishes to make songs of those kinds. Another interesting development of the week was when we discovered that Jin was announced as one of the judges for Maplestory's first character design contest. In addition to all this official content, our boys also showered us with selfies and interactions on Twitter and Weverse.

This was the week in a nutshell! Have a wonderful time ARMY and let’s meet again soon. Borahae! Saranghae!
