PREVIOUSLY ON BTS JULY 18 - 24 ANOTHER EPISODE OF BTSXARMY: “SPOIL YOURSELF”
As we’re still in the euphoria of MAP OF THE SOUL : 7 ~ THE JOURNEY, it feels unbelievable that BTS continued to spoil us this week! As if compensating for their time away from ARMY, they make sure to be nothing but productive these days. So, spoiled ARMY, ready for this week’s recap?
All About MAP OF THE SOUL : 7 ~ THE JOURNEY ~
BTS’ 4th Japanese album has done so well, not only in Japan but also all around the world! MAP OF THE SOUL : 7 ~ THE JOURNEY ~ became the highest peaking Japanese album on the UK Album Chart at #56, surpassing FACE YOURSELF which held the record before. On the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart, the album broke into Top 10, along with other classic albums from legendary artists such as ABBA, Queen, and Adele. While this article was written, Your eyes tell also reached #1 on iTunes in 102 countries. BTS then posted on TikTok to promote the album. Should we expect a new TikTok challenge in the future? We’ll see!
Alert to Your Wallet
On July 19, Big Hit finally released the details for BTS MEMORIES OF 2019, both DVD and Blu Ray versions. The MEMORIES will be 10 hours and 30 minutes long (you read it right!) and include a ring binder, photobook, mini booklet, photo index, photo set, post card, and also, the most wanted random photocard.
Baskin Robbins also released a photoshoot from their partnership with BTS, revealing that a special BTS-themed edition, and 7 flavored ice cream cakes will be released along with special merchandise such as a Lucky BTS 7 Signal Light and of course, photocards. ARMY, if you plan on buying the merchandise, make sure to also order the cake as they are not sold separately.
Performances
BTS will continue the promotion for their Japanese album until next week, as they are scheduled to perform on FUJI TV’s Love Music on July 27. They are also scheduled to perform on Tokopedia’s (Indonesia’s largest e-commerce) online event, Waktu Indonesia Belanja on July 29. It was also announced that they will perform on iHeartRadio Music Festival on September 18 and 19, along with other big names such as Coldplay, Keith Urban, Miley Cyrus, and Usher.
Releases and Achievements
BTS, being the legend that they always are, became the first act in iTunes history to have two songs reaching 100 iTunes No. 1s with Black Swan and Your eyes tell. RM’s mixtape mono. has also reached 107 No. 1s on iTunes, and V’s Sweet Night still holds the record for the single with the most iTunes No. 1s, so far charting in 110 countries. MIC Drop (Steve Aoki Remix) became BTS’ 5th MV to reach 700 million views on YouTube, following DNA, Boy With Luv, FAKE LOVE, and IDOL. On the other hand, ON Official MV has now surpassed over 9M likes and Stay Gold Official MV has surpassed 8M likes on YouTube. Last but not least, on July 22, the Guinness World Records, from their official Twitter account, congratulated BTS who set a record for most viewers for a music concert live stream with BANG BANG CON The Live!
After some spoilers here and there, MAX finally revealed that his upcoming album will be featuring SUGA on a track called Blueberry Eyes. Then, Twitter account @Smeraldo_Books released a sudden announcement that “they currently open the flower shop” which, ARMY assumed, was related to BTS’ comeback. Afterward, they started tweeting a quote which, according to the caption and hashtag, is part of “The Notes 2”. They posted two times this week, one revealing a note from Seokjin and one from Yoongi. With the MEMORIES and now a possible upcoming comeback, are you sure your wallet is ready?
BTS on Social Media
For quite some time, BTS hasn’t done any livestream and it makes ARMY assume that they are busy preparing their self-produced album (see... can you feel that comeback is around the corner?). But don’t you worry as BTS continues to spoil us from Twitter (Seokjinnie is seokjining), Weibo (j-hope saying he missed us), YouTube (a BANGTAN BOMB about BTS at 2019 iHeartRadio Jingle Ball), and of course, Weverse (RM hinting about the new album, V who had a good and deserved rest). We don’t know about you but this just made us miss the boys even more!
BTS has repeatedly promised us that they have something special coming our way. So ARMY, prepare yourself to be spoiled again and again! 보라해~
