Happy New Year, ARMY! 2022 has begun and BTS has already given us a variety of content while on vacation. As always, we are here to help you catch up on all the updates and news you might have missed. So, shall we get started?
The New Year
As we welcomed the new year, none of the boys forgot to come and celebrate with ARMY via social media. They each posted their wishes for the new year, such as having more concerts and for ARMY to be happy and healthy. BANGTANTV also posted a video in which BTS reflected on what they’d achieved in 2021 and what they look forward to in 2022. They expressed how they want to become even better people and artists for their fans. We can’t wait for what awaits BTS and ARMY this new year!
The Best News!
After ARMY got the announcements of SUGA, RM and Jin testing positive for COVID-19, everyone was wishing them a speedy recovery. Fortunately, on January 3, Big Hit Music made a statement on SUGA’s full recovery from the virus, and a day later, they posted about RM and Jin’s recoveries as well. The three members are now out of quarantine and back to their daily activities. We are so grateful and happy for them!
ARTIST-MADE COLLECTION BY BTS also began. BTS was in charge of designing merch items for ARMYs based on whatever they would like. As soon as ARMY got the news, there was a lot of speculation about what the products could be and how the boys’ creativity would be materialized. Eventually, we got the products of our first member, Jin. He designed a set of pillows and pajamas, which he named Good Day Pajama and Bad Day Pajama.
There were two videos released on Weverse about the merch. One presented the product as a whole and had j-hope as Jin's MC, and SUGA, V and Jimin as models. Another was a Making-of Log, showing the process of making the merch. Jin’s idea was to make pajamas with his TinyTAN character as an angel and another one as a devil, so when you ended your day, you would put on the one based on how you felt you did that day. If you accomplished your goals, you would wear the Good Day pajama, but if you felt you were lacking, you would wear the Bad Day Pajama. How creative is that? The set of pajamas and the pillows both sold out in a matter of minutes, which showed ARMY’s clear support.
Not long after, RM’s merch was also released. He designed a Bungeo-ppang Wind Chime and ARMY Jogger Pants. His two videos (presenting the product and the Making-of Log) were released on Weverse as well. This time, SUGA was his MC, and Jungkook and j-hope were his models. According to RM, getting the wind chime would give you a sense of peace as it makes a soothing, chiming sound, and the ARMY Jogger Pants would make you look stylish and feel comfortable at the same time. Just like Jin’s merch, it sold out in minutes. The boys’ products are clearly a success so far! We wonder what the other members have in store for ARMY.
Even while on rest, BTS kept on achieving milestones in the music industry. V’s new song Christmas Tree, the official soundtrack of the Korean drama, “Our Beloved Summer”, debuted at number 1 on the Billboard Digital Song Sales chart and at number 79 on the Billboard Hot 100, the first and only OST by a Korean artist to enter the chart. Also, on Spotify, BTS surpassed 44 million monthly listeners, reaching a new peak and extending their record as the Korean artist with the most monthly listeners. On January 6, Jungkook’s official Spotify account launched, which was expected by ARMY as a hint to the new soundtrack of their recent project, "7 FATES: CHAKHO", which will have his vocals and a production by SUGA. We are so excited to listen to the song and give it all our support!
This new year has just started and it will surely bring new moments of joy to both BTS and ARMY. We are eager to witness and be a part of BTS’ new chapter, which we know for a fact will bring new amazing music. We hope that you, ARMY, will achieve everything you want in 2022. Let’s be happy and healthy, and keep on loving and supporting Bangtan. Stay tuned for more Bangtan content next week!
