It's been a while since our last recap. In between concerts and the Grammys, a lot more has happened. Are you ready to rewind, ARMY? Let's lace up and dive in!
On March 26, Garena Free Fire released their most awaited in-game outfits designed by BTS members. The outfits are synonymous with their aesthetics as the colors match the members' microphones. On March 28, Free Fire dropped a teaser for their BTS collaboration MV which features the song IDOL. On the same day, BTS made a surprise virtual appearance at the Oscars in a segment called “Favorite Film Musical” — sharing their favorite moments from Pixar and Disney movies.
Weverse Magazine published an article on March 29 titled "V paints a picture through his music" — talking about V's solo music style. Also, it was announced that Jungkook had tested positive for COVID-19.
On March 30, BTS Piano Sheet Music went on sale. It has four versions: Dynamite, Life Goes On, Butter, and Permission To Dance. Free Fire released a video of BTS creating their personalized emotes for the game. BTS and Bang Sihyuk were featured on the cover of the April edition of TIME magazine with HYBE being listed as one of the 100 Most Influential Companies for a second consecutive year. On the same day, j-hope concluded his quarantine and made a full recovery from COVID-19 after he had tested positive on March 23.
On March 31, a new video was added to the playlist for “BANGTAN.zip” from 2020 BTS Winter Package. Spotify created a cool feature where ARMY can now check what percentage of their music tastes match with BTS, which automatically creates a personalized playlist.
ARMY was treated to some funny chaos for April Fool's Day. First, Jin changed his Instagram profile picture to a character from League of Legends while adding a quote from them in his bio. Jimin changed BTS' Twitter profile name to Park Jimin and used his baby picture, saying he doesn't know how to change back to the original. He also changed his Instagram profile to Bang Sihyuk's photo while writing his bio as "Bangtan Sonyeondan's father." RM changed his Instagram name to MR and added "Removed" in his bio. j-hope then posted a selfie on Weverse, acting like he was on his way to America. About 10 minutes later, he admitted that it was a lie, asking ARMY if this is how April Fool's is done.
On April 2, V continued their pranking saga by changing their Twitter profile to a photo of himself playing golf while naming the account as "Gifted Person at golf Kim Taehyung." Needless to say, ARMY enjoyed this wholesome, Bangtan-style April Fool's Day chaos. On April 3, we received good news with the announcement of Jungkook's full recovery from COVID-19.
On April 4, BTS made their Grammy appearance where they were nominated in the Pop Duo/Group category for a second consecutive year. The boys gave a dramatic rendition of Butter, becoming one of the most talked-about iconic performances of the night. The members then came on to VLive to commemorate the night with ARMY – talking about various topics including their performance, Jin's surgery, and the overall energy of the event.
ARMY was blessed with Jungkook's solo VLive on April 5. He talked about his fitness and upcoming concerts while going into detail about some of the beautiful dreams he has had recently. On April 6, Coway posted a BTS Noble Induction Ad making video while a video clip from “Love Yourself: Speak Yourself” in London was added to the “BANGTAN.zip” playlist to cast a purple love spell on ARMY.
April 8 was Day 1 of BTS' “Permission To Dance On Stage - Las Vegas” concerts. The hype was real as Las Vegas was lit purple for everyone to see, filling the city as well as ARMYs with joy. RM came on VLive after the concert where he talked about tattoos and diets, and kindly asked ARMY to focus on the positive things in life.
On April 9, BTS held a press conference ahead of their second concert. The Billboard Music Awards also announced their nominations; BTS are nominated in 7 categories, becoming the most nominated group for the BBMAs in 2022. The same day, BTS also won Favorite Music Group at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards. Free Fire’s “Variety Show with BTS” premiered on YouTube, and a teaser for a new game project titled "BTS Island: In The Seom" was released.
April 12 marked the three-year anniversary of Map Of The Soul: Persona. ARMY celebrated with #3YearsWithMOTSPersona on Twitter through fanart, lyric discussions, and even by simply enjoying the album in its entirety. Weverse Magazine also published an article, "Five key moments left after the dust of the 64th Grammys has fallen", on April 13. The next day, a collaboration with Bendai x TinyTan for Tamagotchis was announced.
