Previously on BTS: Butter Hype, Roomcation with Bangtan, and More Surprises September 4-10

What an energy-filled week in Bangtan land! Aside from the BTS events we already had to look forward to, a few surprises also came our way (including a re-peak)! Come join us in recapping the week, ARMY!

BANGTANTV and New Promotions

The week started with Jin practicing his tennis skills day and night in a Bangtan Bomb. Talk about dedication! We also got to see Jungkook happily observing a spider dangle from its web during the filming of a Black Swan performance. VisitSeoul released a 6-second teaser clip of the “BTS x Seoul Tourism: 어기영차,” shortly followed by the full EoGiYeongCha Seoul - BTS advertisement.

The Butter hype continued and 3J was back!

We had reason to celebrate, ARMY, because Butter officially re-peaked at #1 on Billboard Hot 100, marking its 10th week as the #1 song on the chart. Simultaneously, Butter sealed its position as the top song on the Songs of the Summer Chart. Following the announcement, SUGA and j-hope took to Weverse to thank ARMY for their hard work once more. BBC Radio 1 also released a live lounge version of Butter! Don’t we all love when BTS performs their songs with a live band?

That’s not all for the Butter hype! Following the success of Butter feat. Megan Thee Stallion, j-hope, Jimin, and Jungkook, (dubbed as “3J”) made a comeback by releasing a special performance video to “Hot Girl Meg’s” verse on BANGTANTV.

Roomcation has never been so fun!

On Run BTS! Episode 150, we got to see the boys play games and have fun with their production crew at the newly opened Josun Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel, in Gangnam, Seoul. We watched in amazement at how Jungkook easily recognized musical notes and cheered for j-hope to tap that one missing bell and complete the challenge. We played along with RM as he tried to guess capital cities and laughed with Jin, SUGA, Jimin, and V’s as they tried to make it through the idiom games. What will happen to the boys as they start their next challenge in their own hotel rooms?

Achievements and (Additional) Nominations

BTS continued to soar high on Spotify, reaching 38 million followers on the platform. IDOL and Dimple surpassed 260 million and 170 million streams, respectively. Butter surpassed 540 million streams, while Begin reached over 100 million. It only seems natural for BTS to become the first group and first Asian act in Spotify history to surpass over 20 billion streams across all credits! Not only that, however, little more than a year since Dynamite’s release and the song has already reached over 1 billion views on YouTube! The power! The VMAs announced two additional nominations for our boys, too. They’ve been nominated for Group of the Year while Butter is in the running for Song of the Summer.

More Surprises Coming Our Way!

We closed this week off with the release of the highly anticipated BTS x Chris Martin Conversation on YouTube, followed by the premiere of the Permission to Dance’ (Shorts Challenge ver.) MV. Chris Martin facilitated the interview asking BTS their goals and intentions on releasing Permission To Dance, their thoughts on what it means to be globally recognized as well as their feelings of being appointed as South Korea’s special presidential envoy for culture. The PTD Shorts Challenge showcased video submissions from people all over the world dancing to the song and it was a delight to see! It looks like the astronaut in the video is an ARMY, too!

What a week, right? BTS always keeps us on our toes with never a dull moment! We look forward to more memories soon, thank you for recapping with us ARMY! Until our next blog, Borahae!~
