PREVIOUSLY ON BTS: BEST SELLING ARTIST BTS TO YOU! MARCH 6-12

Hello, ARMY! As you know, BTS never disappoints in filling us with joy and pride with every piece of content and achievement—and this week was a big one. Going through these events to be fully updated in everything Bangtan-related is a must, so let’s begin!

Last [BE-Logs]

The week started with Jungkook’s [BE-Log], which was uploaded on BANGTANTV. As Dynamite played in the background, Jungkook was in a small café with a “Painting Room” in which he painted a beautiful purple tree! He named it “Purple Heart Tree” and dedicated it to ARMY. How sweet!

The following day, Jimin’s [BE-Log] was out with the song Telepathy playing in the background. In the log, we were able to see a compilation of Jimin in different places, along with cute, little clips of him while filming the Life Goes On music video. Whoever watches it will smile for sure.

The last log was j-hope’s, with Dis-ease playing in the background. We got to see him have a lot of fun, and the editing was amazing. He played his own version of the song, which sounded just incredible.

Records and Achievements

BTS started the week by surpassing 220 million streams with Life Goes On on Spotify. On the same platform, they reached 30 million followers, holding the title for the most-followed Asian act. On March 8, the Dynamite MV surpassed 25 million likes on YouTube. Along with this, BTS has gained 1 billion YouTube views across their music videos in 2021 so far. Good job ARMY, let’s keep it up! On the same day, the Space Shower Music Awards took place in Japan, and the boys took home the “Best International Artist” and “People’s Choice Award” trophies. Congratulations!

The Recording Academy finally revealed the performers for the Grammys, and guess what ARMY? BTS will be performing on Sunday, March 14. They are the first Korean act to have a solo performance at the Grammy Awards. We have no idea what they have under their sleeves, but we know it’s going to be out of this world. Start preparing, ARMY!

The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) has been releasing the reports of musicians and music from this past year. BTS placed 10th place on the World’s Best Selling Singles of 2020 with their song Dynamite. Later on, the IFPI’s Global Album All Format chart dropped, and BTS held 4th place with BE and 1st place with MAP OF THE SOUL: 7, making it the best selling album of 2020 combining physical, digital and stream numbers. To top it all off, BTS had three entries in the Global Album Sales chart (pure sales), which hasn’t happened since Michael Jackson, in 2009. MAP OF THE SOUL: 7 ~ THE JOURNEY ~ entered in 8th place, BE came in 2nd, and MAP OF THE SOUL: 7 came in 1st place. BTS became the first artist to occupy the first two spots in the chart!

Yoongi’s Birthday

March 9 came, and we all know what that means. Yes, Min Yoongi’s birthday! ARMY made sure that the whole world knew that it was his special day. There were loads of amazing events to celebrate his birthday, such as hot air balloons or coral reefs transplantation. For more details about all these amazing projects, make sure to take a look at our special blog!

This day was also filled with love from all of the members. They all shared their pictures and wishes for Yoongi. Later on, Yoongi went on VLive to thank ARMY for all the congratulations and just have a little chat. We could feel your love Yoongi, and we hope you could feel ours!

Bangtan on Social Media

On March 6 at nearly 4am in Korea, Jungkook decided to drop his version of the Dis-ease bridge. ARMY was shocked and in love with how good it was. Continuing with just-Jungkook-things, he started a live broadcast the next day. His blue hair had turned “mint-choco” and he spent his time chatting with and singing for ARMY. Jimin came on Twitter posting a beautiful selfie and captioning it: “The weather’s still chilly, make sure to dress warmly!” Also, Jin updated us with the prettiest pictures of him on Weverse. If you haven’t yet, go check them out!

We’re excited to keep supporting BTS in their amazing journey, and we know that 2021 will be an even bigger year than ever before. So, ARMY, let’s prepare ourselves for the Grammys and remember that new BTS music is on the way. Let’s keep showing them all of our love. Until next week!
