Previously on BTS: Awards, Accomplishments and ARMY October 24 – 30

BTS has continued to feed us with content this week. There is also exciting news relating to awards as we approach the end of the year.

October 24

Boy With Luv finally hit 1 billion views after more than one year since its release! BTS updated their Instagram story with the question: “What makes you feel beautiful?” Swiping up prompted a new effect/filter that anyone could use and hyped up their upcoming comeback with BE. In the filter, the word “BE” appeared above the users’ head and space was provided underneath where we could fill in the blank. A new Bangtan Bomb was also uploaded, in which we go behind the scenes with BTS at their Black Swan MV shooting. The members act like musical actors while goofing around on set.

Continuing on from the previous day’s Instagram filter, BTS invited ARMY to answer the question “What made you smile today?”, with Jin providing an answer using the filter. Next, the question “What ignites a flame within you?” popped up, and SUGA answered. The group continued to achieve a few new milestones, including 520 million views on Dynamite MV on YouTube and 2.1 billion Spotify streams for Map of the Soul: 7. They have also reached 95,000 pre-orders on the site Ktown4U alone for their upcoming album BE (Deluxe Edition) that will be released next month.

BTS had more to add to their long list of nominations for global awards – they were nominated for Favorite Duo or Group - Pop/Rock and Favorite Social Artist at the American Music Awards 2020. Likewise, they were nominated for International Group/Duo of the Year at the NRJ Music Awards. Big Hit also previewed BTS’ 2020 pop-up store “Map of the Soul” showcase in Seoul.

As part of their ‘Learn Korean with BTS’ series, they released their first teaser for Bora and opened its official Instagram account. The Recording Industry Association of Japan certified Boy With Luv with gold and Dynamite and Stay Gold with silver.

Talk about achievements! On Billboard, BTS achieved #1 in Digital Song sales, Global 200, Global 200 (excluding the U.S.), Social Top 50, and Billboard Artist 100. It was also announced that BTS became the #1 most viewed artist on YouTube this year. The group had a special message for the Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards Ceremony. As a group that pioneered the spread of popularity of Korean popular culture, they congratulated the winners of the awards and vowed to continue promoting culture and the arts to a global audience. Episode 113 of Run BTS! was released, in which Jin was the teacher and the other members were students. They happily played games in this school setting.

BTS visited their pop-up store in Seoul – photos of them popping in and out floated around on social media. Lotte Duty Free and Lemona, both of which they advertise for, updated their Instagram accounts with new content. Many photos were posted on Lotte Duty Free and SUGA looks cozy in a red turtleneck and black blazer. In the Lemona photos, the members look fresh.

BTS left a heartfelt message for ARMYs at their pop-up store in Seoul, which they had visited the day before. In the message, the members state that they miss their fans and are awaiting their reunion. Behind-the-scenes clips for Episode 113 of Run BTS! were released. Glamour uploaded a video of BTS reacting to fan covers on YouTube, which trended around the world. The 2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards released nominations and BTS are nominated for multiple awards, including Best Male Group, Song of the Year, Artist of the Year, Worldwide Fans Choice, and Best Dance Performance. SUGA is also nominated along with IU for Best Collaboration for Eight. Considering that BTS has consistently emerged victorious at the annual MAMA awards for many years, there is no doubt that ARMY will be doing their best to make sure they snag more awards this year.

October 30

Speaking of awards, BTS won the Best Group Video (International) award at the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards Japan for Dynamite. This may not come as a surprise, given their immense popularity in Japan. A preview of the group’s interview for India’s NDTV was released.

And that’s all for now, ARMY! Don’t forget to tune in next week to catch up with BTS, especially as we get closer and closer to their BE comeback!
