Previously on BTS: Birthday hats and SUGA's real talk.

The past week has felt like a roller coaster ride. It was jam-packed with the monthly ARMY selca day, BTS making history, along with their mind-blowing performance at the annual MAMAs, the 102.7 KIIS FM's 2019 Jingle Ball in Los Angeles and – not to forget – Mr Worldwide Handsome's birthday.

Our birthday boy, Jin, turned 27 in international age on December 4th and celebrated it on VLIVE, together with the other members and ARMY. We're all convinced that the man is aging backwards and has grown more handsome since his last, forehead-exposed selca on Twitter.

While he tried to win a platform game (Theme: The Lion King), Jimin tried to eat the birthday cake with a mini Jin figure and Jungkook ate a strawberry with much hesitation.

Oh MA MA MA!

Oh MA MA! It's that time of year and yes, Jungkook refused to eat a strawberry at first because of this (as if a single strawberry could ruin those gorgeous abs). Jin quickly made him reconsider his response: "Who is more important, MAMA or me?" Of course, it's his hyung (but that didn't stop Jungkook leaving us in awe during their performance).

On the red carpet, a funny incident occurred. Jin kept the promise he made during his VLIVE and turned a birthday hat into an it-piece. He never disappoints.

Before we get into their performance this year, let's talk about how BTS made history by winning all four Daesangs: Album of the Year for Map of the Soul: Persona, Worldwide Icon of the Year, Song of the Year for Boy With Luv and Artist of the Year. They have become the first artist in history to receive all the Daesangs at MAMA.

Other awards BTS won that night include: Best Male Group, Qoo10 Favorite Male Artist, Best Music Video for Boy With Luv, Best Dance Performance Male Group and Worldwide Fans’ Choice Top 10. Best Collaboration also went to Lee Sora’s Song Request, which featured Suga.

Their MAMA performance, titled MAP OF THE SOUL: JOURNEY TO MYSELF, was divided into three parts:

FUTURE MEETS PAST: CALLING (“N.O” and “We Are Bulletproof Pt. 2”)

PAST MEETS PRESENT: WORLD ( “Boy With Luv” and “Mikrokosmos”)

PRESENT MEETS FUTURE: ETERNAL JOURNEY (“Dionysus”)

There is no doubt that this performance highlighted BTS' journey from the unknown group they once were to the successful icons they are today.

SUGA'S INTERLUDE

On December 6th, singer Halsey released two songs from her upcoming album, Manic. One of these included “SUGA’s Interlude”, a collaboration with none other than Mr Min Yoongi. Not long after its release, it rose to the No. 1 spot on Worldwide iTunes charts. “Yoongi’s like really introspective, and this really like intelligent perspective on you know, where we are and what we’re doing in our unique lifestyles,” Halsey said on Instagram. “And he really fit like the sentiment like vibe of the album and like what it’s about. So, I felt like I really wanted to include him.”

In his interlude, Yoongi talks about the struggles of being famous and constantly worries about the future but also encourages the listener to keep going and moving forward.

Jingle Jingle

Since it was announced that BTS would be the first act on stage for the annual 102.7 KIIS FM's 2019 Jingle Ball in L.A, some ARMYs joked that the venue would be empty soon after their performance.

Although, not long after, some ARMYs left or gave Katy Perry a black ocean, after she made a comment, saying “Most of you get to stay up late past your bed time.” It's still not clear whether she directed it to her underage fans as a joke, but as the majority of the audience at Jingle Ball only attended for BTS, her joke was not appreciated.

In contrast to Katy, Lizzo proved her sense of humor, when she asked the crowd to pretend she was Jimin and was nearly blown away by the screams.

BTS killed it on stage and their dance moves were as fierce as ever. It's rumored that they performed first because of their hectic schedule; They flew from MAMA in Nagoya, Japan, back to Korea and got on the plane to Los Angeles only a few hours later. Considering the lack of rest they've had, leaving the event early to get a good night's sleep, is understandable.

Thankfully, they will get a little more rest until December 14th and 15th, where their fifth official fanmeeting in Osaka will be happening.

HITMAKERS

The day after the Jingle Ball, BTS arrived at the Variety's Hitmakers brunch, to accept their "Group of the year" award and became the first korean artist to do so. “Consistently reaching the top of the U.S. charts singing in their native Korean, RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook made pop culture history on their own terms,” Variety explained on their official website.

During their acceptance speech, Namjoon dropped another bomb when he announced that BTS are currently working on new music and can't wait to release them.
